How To Take Care Of The Smile With Braces
Traditional braces, which consist of metal brackets and wires over the teeth, can make it much more difficult to keep the teeth and gums clean. Some patients also struggle with flossing, having to find strategic ways to work around the brackets and wires covering the smile. With Invisalign, caring for the smile is easier than ever. Invisalign trays are removable, allowing patients to remove them and expose their natural teeth. Then, brushing and flossing are done just as before. Patients do not have to work around appliances that can make it more difficult to prevent problems such as tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease from becoming serious issues for their smiles during treatment. Once patients have brushed and flossed their teeth, the aligner tray can be snapped back in place.

Additionally, compliance with treatment is necessary to get the results patients desire in the time frame promised. Invisalign trays must be worn for at least 20 hours daily to obtain the desired results. In most cases, patients only remove the trays when they eat, drink, brush, or floss. The remainder of the day—and night—should be committed to wearing the trays to reposition the teeth quickly and effectively.
