PERIOPROTECT OXYGEN THERAPY

WHAT IS PERIOPROTECT?
PerioProtect is a unique and effective treatment for addressing bacteria-associated conditions such as periodontal disease. This non-invasive tray delivery system allows the prescription-strength medication to manage the harmful bacteria underneath the gum line, which cannot be accessed by brushing and flossing.
HOW THE PERIOPROTECT SYSTEM WORKS
The team at Gentle Dentistry in Tampa, Florida, will take both upper and lower jaw impressions to create customized plastic trays. These customized dental trays are designed with a unique internal peripheral sealing system to correspond with your pocket probing depths. This allows the 1.7% hydrogen peroxide gel medication prescribed with PerioProtect trays to effectively fight subgingival infections by addressing the biofilms in these pockets. As this biofilm amount decreases, the inflammation will begin to subside, and the gum tissue will have the opportunity to heal.

Patients undergoing periodontal maintenance will want to combine PerioProtect with other treatments, such as scaling and root planing. Most of our patients return every three to four months for re-care and can see the regressing symptoms of periodontal disease with the directed use of the PerioProtect trays.
After periodontal treatment, patients’ gums often become less swollen and move from red to pink, indicating that the infection is under control. To prevent new infections, PerioProtect’s peroxide gel trays can help keep bacteria at bay for these treatments, such as pocket depth reduction or connective tissue grafting, to achieve optimal results.
PerioProtect is typically indicated for patients with extensive past periodontal work, such as osseous surgery, biologic shaping, or connective tissue grafting.
