Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain we apply to the outer surface of the tooth to give it a natural, but improved look, as well as strengthen the tooth. These are successful options in patients that are looking to improve color, position, contour and shape of teeth. They’re also a great option for people that have spaces between teeth or fractured teeth. Due to the high-tech properties of the porcelain, they are stain-resistant, so they maintain their beauty for a long period of time. Because we don’t have to remove as much tooth structure as we’ve done traditionally in the past with crown preparation, they’re a nice, conservative approach for giving the patient the smile that they’ve always wanted.
Minimal prep veneers are veneers that require minimal tooth modification, limited to the very outer layer of the tooth enamel, requiring no anesthetic. These are ideal for patients with small teeth, patients that have gaps or spaces between the teeth or worn teeth. Because all veneer cases don’t lend themselves to minimal prep veneers, we offer a courtesy consultation to come into our office so we can discuss their options. Minimal prep veneers require less chair time as well due to the fact that no temporary veneers need to be placed.
